I can not believe it. I have been targeted by the DET for starting teaching next year with a permanant job. Hopefully I will prove to be worthy of the placement, and not disappoint anyone or anything like that.
I will be going to a small Central School in Central Western NSW. They haven't had a HSIE teacher (Social Sciences) in 9 years, and so I will be the first permanant HSIE teacher since 1996. The other teachers have had to cover the subjects themselves. What a strain. I will be teaching by stage, too, not by year, because there aren't enough students, really, to break each stage up into years (there are less than 20 in stage 4 and just over 20 in stage 5 [or vice versa]). That will be interesting, because that means a two year rotational program. I've heard that one of the teachers that has been teaching Geography for the last few years had made a program up recently, and it will be nice to see what that is like.
Anyway, I can't say more than I have accepted the place. It is a 6 point school (which will mean something to those that know about the point system), and I am looking forward to the challenge that will be occuring over the next few years.
