The Cricket, again...

I went to the cricket again this last Sunday. Tickets...I love ING. Anyway...on with the game.

Unfortunately, NSW lost. They played a really good innings (batting first) - they scored 275, with Phil Jacques scoring 152 (not out) off 141 balls, as well as getting 22 (6, 2, 4, 2, 2, 6) runs off the last over of the innings. That could be because Brett Lee made him run 2 runs three times, when they were pushing it a little bit. :) But it was good to see. Dad didn't think that the NSWelshman had made an unbeatable score, but I thought that it might be good enough. It wasn't.

Matthew Hayden did some very good damage to the great bowler Glenn McGrath's opening overs. Ouch. Really, really bad. He was going for 9 an over after only 4 overs. However, when he returned later in the innings he got 2 wickets (one was a good bowled), but he still went for 66 runs after 10 overs. Hayden, though, was in very good form, and hit a wonderful 80-odd in a short time. I don't have the stats right here...they are in my room. Perren was also a very good batter for the team, scoring 90-odd, so, thank goodness they finally got him out. However, the damage had been done. Brett Lee, though, was on a hat-trick at one stage, and it looked as though, with 9 or so runs to get, the Queenslanders might be in a bit of trouble, losing about three or four wickets for thirty runs at the most.

Anyway, the Queenslanders got the score with 5 overs left to bowl. So, NSW lost pretty convincingly. However, it was a really good game to have seen, and well worth sticking around until the end, even for the loss being confirmed. NSW is still going well in the points scoring, and hopefully will continue that way throughout the summer. Same in the Pura Cup matches they have played so far.
